We're looking for experienced and diverse effects artists to solve complex visual problems in a self-directed and efficient way. As an effects artist at Valve, you will join a world-class group of software engineers, artists, writers, animators, and designers who are continually creating and releasing entertainment experiences to players around the globe. We're hoping to add your expertise in visual effects to our team!

Effects artists at Valve contribute in a wide variety of ways: We actively identify effects opportunities and craft effects from scratch to address existing needs. We collaborate in small teams of artists and programmers to quickly iterate and execute content. We ship content on a weekly basis on multiple platforms: game engine, UI, linear media, web, and more while also contributing to longer-term tool development. We manage our own time while being keenly aware of other needs and requirements across different company projects. We also recruit artists like you.

Please provide a portfolio or reel which demonstrates
- Extensive professional experience in effects along with a detailed breakdown of the work shown
- Excellent knowledge with 3D Packages such as Maya or Houdini
- Your solid understanding of motion, context and art style
- Scripting or programming experience (Python, C++, etc.)
- Your ability to actively communicate and work in groups
